In traveling around Colorado I made it a point to explore a few of the high mountain passes; Owl Creek, Kebler and Independence.

Owl Creek Pass is a gravel mountain pass located in the Uncompahgre National forest with views of the Cimarron Range of mountains including Chimney Rock and Courthouse Mountain.  There were two iconic movies filmed here:  How the West Was Won and True Grit.

Kebler Pass is a high mountain pass near Crested Butte with spectacular fall color views.

Independence Pass is a high mountain pass near Aspen, Colorado and originally named Hunter Pass.  It crosses the continental Divide via Colorado State Highway 82 and is the highest paved pass in North America at over 12 thousand feet.

Here is a small collection of images from these locations.
