This national park is situated in western Colorado and it is not very well known. It is only 12 miles along the Black Canyon of the Gunnison River, but is extremely dramatic. With steep and deep canyon walls and crystal clear blue waters it is nothing less than breathtaking. It gets the “Black” in its name from the lack of light entering the canyon due to is narrow steep cliffs.

I not only drove the rim but also went down to the river and had the opportunity to hike in both locations. Here are a few pics from the park and my experience:
