Situated just outside of Santa Fe, NM, the Pecos National Historic Park preserves the remains of Indian cultures from about AD 1100. The pueblos grew up to a population of 2000 people in a five-story complex. Today the primary remains are those of the 18thcentury Church, the pueblo and their kivas (restored) which are underground ceremonial chambers.
